Following success in three BC municipalities, the program is now available in City of New Westminster
Vancouver, BC, September 18, 2024 — Following the initial success of its pilot program, Properate, the AI-powered home energy assessment tool, along with the Ministry of Energy, Mines and Low Carbon Innovation’s (EMLI) have announced the successful release of the BC Home Energy Planner in its fourth pilot community: the City of New Westminster.
This expansion brings the total number of pilot communities in British Columbia to four. Previously, the Town of Smithers, the District of Saanich and the Regional District of Kootenay Boundary had joined the program. Leveraging a white-labelled version of Properate’s software, the BC Home Energy Planner provides virtual ratings and upgrade roadmaps for homeowners. Residents can access personalized information on technologies, costs, savings, and available rebates by filling out a questionnaire.
At the forefront of Canada’s clean energy movement, The BC Home Energy Planner represents a robust approach to engaging the province’s diverse population. Properate’s goal is to accelerate the transition to more energy-efficient homes, with its innovative grey-box modeling drastically increasing the accessibility and inclusiveness of home upgrade insights.
“Part of de-risking the transition to a cleaner future is applying inclusive and accessible technologies,” said Arman Mottaghi, CEO of Properate. “We’re pleased that our foundational technologies and experience have enabled the rapid development of this service, through which the Ministry of Energy, Mines and Low Carbon Innovation can bring home upgrade insights to homeowners across BC.”
The expansion aligns with the launch of the new Home Energy Savings program. By using the BC Home Energy Planner, homeowners received tailored upgrade plans that include potential cost savings and eligible rebates.
