As a Technician– Fleet Services within our Fleet Services Department, you will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance on Peel Regional Police vehicles as required, commissioning and decommissioning vehicles.

 What will your typical day look like?

  • Performs preventative maintenance on PRP vehicles, which includes, but is not limited to, oil and filter changes, brake inspections, tire changing.
  • Commissions new vehicles which involves the installation of decals, light bars, prisoner cages, etc.; decommissions old vehicles, which involves the removal of all decals, prisoner cages, lights, etc. Operates tow truck in a safe manner.
  • Maintains the shop equipment, including the tire machine, tire balancer, etc.
  • Assists in maintaining the parking lot and new vehicle pound.
  • Operates the Fleet Services van to perform minor repairs at divisions and bureaus.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

You are someone with:

  • A High School Diploma or equivalent, plus additional mechanical/vehicle maintenance courses and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • A minimum of two years related experience required
  • Experience operating a tow truck preferred
  • Working knowledge and ability to use all hand tools to perform automotive maintenance and repairs preferred
  • Working knowledge of servicing motorcycles preferred
  • Working knowledge of servicing diesel vehicles preferred
  • Demonstrated physical ability to perform all activities
  • Valid Ontario Driver`s Licence (Class G) with full driving privileges

APPLICABLE TESTS:

Applicants will be required to successfully complete the following tests:

  • Fleet Service Tech – Practical
  • Fleet Service Tech – Written
  • Lifting – Fleet

 What we offer

 The salary range for this permanent, full-time position is $61,540.00 to $96,525.00 per annum. Peel Regional Police offers a highly competitive compensation package; applicants will be considered for the top end of the range ($84,459.00 – $96,525.00) based on experience. The salary is complemented with a comprehensive benefit program, including employer-paid Health/Dental and Life Insurance; and the OMERS Pension Plan effective upon hire.
