What You Will Do:
-Leverage your professional planning experience by providing advice to the Town of Bracebridge, the public and potential planning applicants while liaising with three-tiers of government.
-Take a lead role in the growth and development of the Town of Bracebridge by providing input and recommendations in the processing of planning applications including, zoning amendments, official plan amendments, plans of subdivisions, condominiums, site plans and consent and minor variance applications.
-Bring your enthusiasm, experience and ideas to support key departmental projects including reviews of the Official Plan, Comprehensive Zoning By-Law and Site Plan Guidelines.
-Exercise your critical thinking and judgement skills by interpreting policies, applying good planning and developing and presenting recommendations on planning matters to committees and Council.
-Engage with the community by responding to inquiries and participating in site visits.
-This position reports to the Manager of Planning Services.
We are looking for a team player who is enthusiastic, customer service focused and who has the following:
-University degree in Planning or related discipline required and membership eligibility with the Ontario Professional Planners Institute (OPPI).*
-Five years’ experience as a Planner, preferably in a municipal setting.*
-Demonstrated experience in the review and preparation of various planning applications.
-Strong working knowledge of the Planning Act and other building/zoning/property maintenance-related legislation/regulations/standards and related enforcement processes.
-Excellent interpersonal, project/time management, research and report writing skills, communication, presentation, problem-solving/mediation, staff leadership and computer skills including the Microsoft Office Suite are required.
