Job Profile

Reporting to the Manager of Economic Development within the Economic Development Division of the Corporate Enterprise Department, this position is responsible for the implementation of the Economic Development Plan, along with the following duties:

What you will be doing

  • Lead in the development and implementation of the Economic Development Marketing Plan to promote Cambridge as a location for investment attraction and expansion.
  • Strategically liaise with the local business community to assist with their needs and connect them with a support network for business.
  • Develop and implement regular Business Retention and Expansion (BR+E) programs along with a robust corporate calling program targeting sectors of focus and outcomes as defined in the Economic Development Action Plan.
  • Collaborate with the Economic Development Manager to make annual budget recommendations and track annual spending.
  • Provide support to the City of Cambridge Economic Development Advisory Committee as well as build and maintain relationships with Regional partners through participation in committees and working groups where appropriate.
  • Assist developers and industry in site selection efforts by providing relevant information to suit their needs and guide them through the development process where appropriate.
  • Develop and lead special projects that meet the objectives of the Economic Development Action Plan and provide oversight to consultants.
  • Build and maintain relationships with internal divisions as well as external organizations in an effort to provide appropriate resources.
  • Prepare briefing notes, letters of support, reports to Council and presentations for Members of Council, City Leadership Team, EDAC etc.
  • Negotiate arrangements with various internal stakeholders to efficiently manage economic development projects and achieve a fair and equitable outcome in addressing the needs of our business community.

Education

  • Degree in Business Administration, Economics, Planning, or similar programs
  • Professional Economic Development certification is considered an asset

Experience and Knowledge

  • Minimum four years’ experience in a senior level Economic Development role within a municipal environment
  • Implementation of an Economic Development Action Plan
  • Facilitating economic growth through interaction with the business and development community

Valid G driver’s license.
Worker Health and Safety Awareness Training Certificate from the Ministry of Labour

Your compensation

  • Annual salary range of $94,039 to $114,678 (Non-Union Salary Grid, Grade 5)
  • Comprehensive benefits package including extended health, dental, travel benefits; long term disability; accidental death and dismemberment and life insurance.
  • Enrolment in Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System (OMERS).

Location of position

This position is located at Cambridge, City Hall, 50 Dickson Street, Cambridge, Ontario.

This organization supports a Hybrid Program.

Hours of work

Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (35 hours per week).
