JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Project Manager, Parks Development, the Parks Redevelopment Coordinator will coordinate and oversee the redevelopment of annual Park asset lifecycle replacements and selected park redevelopments as assigned, within the City of Markham.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Reviews design and construction drawings and tender documents.
  • Administers project and budgets to ensure completion on time within budget allocation.
  • Conducts site inspections for compliance and assumption and writes reports of findings.
  • Support supervisors to develop the annual asset lifecycle update, prepare the annual capital budget process, prepare reports for Committees and Council.
  • Liaises with Council members, staff, residents, and external agencies.
  • Work with internal stakeholders to award and supervise external consultants to ensure compliance with City standards and design objectives.
  • Other duties as assigned

REQUIRED SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

  • Degree in Landscape Architecture, or equivalent academic qualifications as recognized by the Ontario Association of Landscape architects to qualify for Full Membership
  • Full member, in good standing of the Ontario Association of Landscape Architects, and maintenance of full membership in good standing of the OALA, or qualified to obtain full member status
  • At least 3 years of experience in design and construction in the Landscape Architecture industry, preferably in a municipal setting
  • Project management experience is considered an asset
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Demonstrated computer experience and knowledge including all Microsoft Office Software
  • Ability to multitask in fast paced working environments
  • Good working knowledge of general office equipment
  • Valid “G” class Ontario driver’s license and access to a reliable personal vehicle to be used for business purposes
