Manager of Infrastructure

Just a short 20-minute ferry ride from West Vancouver, Bowen Island is a close-knit community of just over four thousand residents. Surrounded by the natural beauty of Howe Sound, Bowen offers a peaceful, small-town lifestyle with quick and easy access to downtown Vancouver. Known for its strong sense of community, vibrant arts scene, and abundance of outdoor recreation such as hiking, kayaking, beachcombing, and biking, Bowen Island is an ideal place to live and work. Located on the traditional and unceded territory of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) Nation, the island combines west coast charm with urban convenience.
Bowen Island Municipality is seeking to fill its newly created Manager of Infrastructure position. This is an exciting opportunity for an engineering professional to advance their career to the next level. Reporting directly to the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) for the first year, and to the Director of Engineering (DoE) thereafter, this is a rare opportunity to work alongside the highest level of municipal management – helping shape the strategic direction of long-term infrastructure investments and asset management on Bowen Island.
The Manager of Infrastructure will provide expertise in the areas of municipal infrastructure and asset management, including engineering, municipal water, drainage, wastewater collection, roads, buildings, parks, and landscape maintenance.
This permanent, full-time role will be responsible for supporting the planning and execution of capital infrastructure projects as well as leading the development of a comprehensive asset management program.
Other responsibilities may include policy and bylaw development, program planning, budget management, administration, and operational direction of the Municipality’s public works, water distribution, storm and wastewater collection systems and maintenance functions.
The Manager of Infrastructure is responsible for supporting the DoE to accomplish department objectives and goals within guidelines established by the Council and the CAO.
