In this inaugural role the Manager, Fleet Engineering, is responsible for leading the Fleet Engineering Unit within the Maintenance Division, overseeing standards for DRT’s fleet vehicle assets, parts, service equipment, fueling and charging systems, consumables, and maintenance programs. Reporting to the Deputy General Manager, this role focuses on strategic planning, policy development, and program design to support the delivery of reliable, cost-effective, and sustainable fleet operations.
This position requires strong technical expertise in transit vehicles and fleet maintenance, along with a strategic mindset and the ability to collaborate across divisions. The Manager will work closely with divisional leadership to align initiatives, resolve operational issues, and ensure business continuity—particularly during emergencies. A key aspect of the role is supporting the delivery of high-performing fleet assets that meet both operational demands and customer expectations.
The ideal candidate for this role possesses a degree in Engineering or Applied Sciences, with specialization in Mechanical, Automotive, Electrical, Mechatronics, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of experience. A minimum of eight years of progressive experience, including five in a leadership role, is required. The successful candidate will bring proven skills in strategic thinking, team development, and change management, along with experience working in a unionized environment.
