About the Role – How you will Contribute to the Service:
Join our dynamic team as a Full-Time Infrastructure Services Supervisor with the Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) Information Technology Department and play a pivotal role in shaping and maintaining cutting-edge technologies. We are seeking a highly skilled and dynamic Infrastructure Services Supervisor to lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of cutting-edge technologies across Networking, Voice, Security, Server, Storage, and Application topologies. In this pivotal role, you’ll be responsible for proposing innovative solutions, troubleshooting complex issues, and documenting all aspects of technology infrastructure. Here’s what you will get to do:
- Proposing, designing, implementing, documenting, troubleshooting and maintaining new and existing technologies related to Networking, Voice, Security, Server, Storage and Application topologies. Supervises Information Technology (IT) Infrastructure Support staff.
- Recruits, trains, supervises and evaluates performance of team members. Assigns work to ensure timely completion of projects. Coordinates after hours on-call schedule. Provides technical expertise and mentoring to staff.
- Oversees the design, implementation, documentation, troubleshooting and maintenance of all technologies related to Infrastructure, including: Local Area Network/Wide Area Networks and Wireless LAN infrastructure; mobile data technologies, virtual server farms, Backups and Compliance, virtualized Applications; tiered storage; server hardware, all enterprise and 911 telecommunications systems; secure remote access; external/extranet/internet/intranet connections; Microsoft server platforms and Microsoft Active Directory; email infrastructure; firewall rules/access/logs, security; LAN risers and overseeing all Data Centre Operations; all wired and wireless network connectivity to/from/in HRPS establishments; Internet and BGP connectivity; and ensuring redundant/resilient network connectivity.
- Plans, coordinates and communicates monthly IT Infrastructure maintenance activities. Provides third-level support of these systems.
- Oversees the operation and optimization of the Public Safety LTE Network, Headquarters and Backup Data Centres.
- Develops and maintains security policies, rules and system administrator access on major IT infrastructure components, including firewalls, Intrusion Protection Systems, e-mail gateways, Internet proxy filters, SPAM filters, router/switch access lists, Remote VPN access, Mobile Device policies, wireless access and authentication and Microsoft Windows Servers.
- Reviews security audits and assessments conducted by third parties to ensure that security holes and vulnerabilities are addressed.
- Assesses needs, determines requirements and reports on Microsoft licensing.
- Develops projects plans and leads implementation. Identifies resource requirements, including costs and associated risks.
- Ensures integration of hardware and software system components. Ensures that new technology and major changes are compliant with RCMP standards. Prepares and provides the RCMP with reports and information as required.
- Acts as an expert resource to other members of the IT team and keeps Managers apprised of systems and project status. Escalates problems for resolution as required.
- Designs, implements and ensures support of a patch management strategy for all systems.
- Assists and contributes to the technical vision, technical plan, and technical architecture of the service.
- Identifies and provides information on critical infrastructure needs and capital and operating budget requirements.
- Assists in searching and locating information for Freedom of Information (FOI) request.
- Ensures monitoring, performance, and capacity management of all HRPS infrastructure systems.
- Other related duties as assigned.
What you’ll Bring to the Role:
Education, Certifications and Qualifications: College diploma in computer science, networking, engineering or other related field.
Previous Experience, Knowledge and Skills: The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in systems engineering, utilizing both on-premises and cloud technologies. They should possess a strong understanding of system requirements, including specification, architecture, installation, configuration, and documentation of complex operating systems. Proven hands-on experience in independently designing, troubleshooting, and managing complex IT solutions is essential, particularly with Microsoft server platforms, Azure cloud, Cisco LAN/WAN networking, VoIP telephony, VPN, load balancers, security solutions, and Storage Area Network (SAN) solutions. Experience in datacenter operations and management, Azure, O365 and Exchange Online, AWS, Mobile Device Management (MDM) for securing mobile devices, Intune for app deployment and device management, Identity Provider (IdP) for user identity verification, network optimization and security tools, firewalls, and Webex for messaging, calling, meetings, and collaboration is also required. Previous team leadership experience.

Salary Range: $121,598.00 – 135,108.00
