Reporting to the Supervisor of Facilities, the Facility Maintenance Technician performs general caretaking, floor polishing and food prep area cleaning functions in accordance with facility maintenance standards, and permit agreements and conditions.  Key responsibilities include:

  • arrange for and sets up/takes down tables, chairs and other equipment/furnishings,
  • complete deep cleaning and seasonal cleaning functions annually
  • look after minor repairs to buildings and equipment including, but not limited to: interior and exterior painting; drywall/plaster patching; tile replacement; door and door hardware; caulking and water and sewage systems and minor adjustments to mechanical and electrical systems where a licensed trade is not required.

Preferred candidates will have completed related facility maintenance courses, and/or certificate programs as well as 3-5 years demonstrated facility maintenance experience.   Certified Ice Technician, Certified Building Technician and Certified Pool/ Spa Operator certifications are considered an asset. Certification in or possession of a current trade license in one or all of the following would be considered an asset:  pipe fitter, carpentry, heating, ventilation and/ or air conditioning.  The individual will be able demonstrate effective, professional and courteous communication skills with all levels of staff, external contacts and the general public; be productive in a team environment, and possess a strong understanding with respect to HVAC, carpentry, plumbing, and electrical trades.  This position provides on-call and scheduled coverage during evenings, weekends and statutory holidays in accordance with the rotating facility schedule.

 

Salary Range: $64,750- $76,176 (Band 4)
