Economic Development and Projects Manager

Under the direction of the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), the Economic Development and Projects Manager will provide professional leadership and direction with respect to the planning and implementation of economic & land development strategies in support of the goals established by the Town of Marathon. This will include the promotion, growth, and development of the municipality’s economic base through retention expansion of existing businesses, and business attraction activities to support business investment. The position will also be responsible for overseeing all aspects of specific corporate projects to ensure that scope, quality, schedule, budget resources and risks are managed during each project phase.
Required Qualifications:
- Degree/Diploma in economics, commerce, business administration or public administration, with at least three years’ experience in a related field
- Must have knowledge of Municipal affairs
- Experience with Project Management
- Excellent knowledge of community based economic development
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent research skills and knowledge of political process
- Ability to use excellent judgment in respecting confidentiality
- Ability to identify and respond to sensitive community and organizational issues, concerns and needs of prospects.
- Must have excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Must have a valid driver’s licence
- Must be willing to attend evening and weekend meetings
Hours of work: 36.25 hours per week
Salary: A competitive salary to be determined based on experience along with a excellent benefit package and enrolment in OMERS pension plan
