We’re seeking a Director of Infrastructure Services — a senior leadership role reporting directly to the CAO and responsible for the County’s key service areas, including Transportation, Environmental Services, Fleet, Agricultural Services, Capital Projects, Facilities, and the Airport. The Director leads over 43 full-time employees (excluding seasonal/temporary positions) and plays a pivotal role in guiding strategic planning, capital investment, and operational excellence across these divisions.

This is a working-directors position, ideal for a leader who can balance hands-on field engagement with high-level strategic and financial planning. You’ll be joining a County in a positive period of renewal systems are improving, service levels are high, and Council is forward-thinking. The organization is currently reviewing processes and long-term plans to ensure continued efficiency and modernization.

This vacancy follows a successful leadership term, with the department functioning effectively and prepared for a smooth transition to its next phase.

Woodlands County offers a flexible work environment, with the primary office located in Whitecourt and the option to work from the Fort Assiniboine office if preferred. Following the successful completion of probation, additional flexibility may be available through Earned Day Off (EDO) arrangements, flex days, or other mutually agreed scheduling options, consistent with organizational needs. Expectations & Commitments

The successful candidate will be expected to:
• Provide visible leadership and engagement across all divisions and field operations;
• Participate actively in Council and committee meetings as part of the Senior Leadership Team;
• Lead with a mindset of continuous improvement, identifying opportunities to streamline processes, enhance service delivery, and strengthen organizational culture;
• Demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills, fostering collaboration, trust, and teamwork across departments and with Council;
• Support and contribute to policy and procedure development, ensuring alignment with legislative requirements and organizational best practices;
• Be available for occasional evening or emergency response meetings as required; and
• Pursue ongoing professional development and leadership training consistent with the County’s commitment to continuous learning and excellence.
