Reporting to the Commissioner Corporate Services/Treasurer, the Director Financial Management & Planning/Deputy Treasurer (Director) is responsible for providing management and strategic direction for a fiscally sound government organization in all areas of corporate finance, debt management and financial advisory services for all departments. The Director provides leadership and direction in the development and implementation of the finance, accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, analysis, investment, debt management, and taxation functions. They establish and implement financial management policies, ensuring compliance with existing accounting guidelines, Provincial and Federal funding partners and alignment with the policies established by Regional Council and the administrative directions set by the Commissioner/Treasurer. They serve in the role of Deputy Treasurer for the Region.

 

The successful candidate holds a post-secondary degree in Accounting, Commerce or Business or related discipline, with a CPA designation, coupled with 10+ years of senior management and progressive leadership experience in the finance function. Your finance functional expertise has been ideally gained within the public sector and municipal environment. As a strong leader, you will direct the Financial Management & Planning Division to ensure that quality financial services are provided to support the delivery of all Region Services. You have excellent strategic, analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills to work with the Commissioner Corporate Services/Treasurer, Members of Regional Council, Region staff, stakeholders, and the public. An innovative thinker with advanced communication and relationship abilities, you are well-equipped to take on the role of Director Financial Management & Planning/Deputy Treasurer.
