Due to a retirement, the City is seeking a visible, hands-on, and strategic leader to serve as its next:

Deputy Treasurer

Reporting to the Director of Finance/Treasurer and leading a small, experienced team, the Deputy Treasurer will be responsible for statutory duties under the Municipal Act, 2001, and will serve as acting Treasurer when required. The role oversees critical aspects of municipal finance, including accounts receivable and payable, taxation, utility billing, financial reporting and analysis, subsidy claims, and capital asset accounting, ensuring compliance with Public Sector Accounting Standards and municipal policies.

As Deputy Treasurer, you will provide leadership on process improvements, support the annual budgeting and forecasting process, act as the primary contact for audit coordination, and support grant financial reporting and cash/investment management. This is a visible and trusted position, offering the opportunity to contribute to the financial health and strategic priorities of the municipality.

The Role:
• Supervise and support A/P, A/R, taxation, and utility billing staff
• Prepare financial reports, variance analyses, and government claims
• Oversee capital asset ledger maintenance and assist with audits
• Manage cash flows and support investment activities
• Contribute to annual operating and capital budgeting

What You Bring:
• A degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related discipline
• Progress toward or attainment of a CPA designation is preferred
• Experience in a municipal or broader public sector setting
• Strong knowledge of municipal finance principles, PSAB standards, and relevant legislation
• Proven organizational and analytical skills, and a detail-oriented mindset
• Experience with financial systems (Vadim/iCity) and Microsoft Office applications

Salary Range: $109,990.40 – $120,993.60, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
