The Opportunity

As the Community Transportation Coordinator, you will lead managing and overseeing Collingwood’s dynamic transit system. Reporting directly to the Manager of Public Works, you will be instrumental in ensuring smooth transit operations, outstanding customer service, and a seamless experience for all riders. Your strategic thinking will guide our transit system as you improve routes, enhance accessibility, and explore new growth and optimization opportunities.

What You Will Do

  • Manage the daily operations of Collingwood’s transit system, working closely with our service provider to ensure service excellence and a positive rider experience
  • Oversee, monitor, and report on service contract performance, ensuring adherence to KPIs and service standards
  • Analyze ridership numbers, performance metrics, and other data to understand trends, identify areas for improvement, and prepare reports for decision-making and funding initiatives
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders, including neighbouring jurisdictions, to coordinate services and optimize routes
  • Develop and implement innovative policies, procedures, and expansion plans to advance Transit goals
  • Draft contracts, manage budgets, participate in procurement processes, and contribute to the overall financial health of our Transit system.
  • Lead transit-related grant initiatives, from application to reporting
  • Champion accessibility standards (AODA) to guarantee an inclusive transit system
  • Manage the upkeep and development of our transit infrastructure

Skills and Experience

  • Strong understanding of transit operations, transportation, or logistics, and a commitment to accessibility standards
  • Excellent service contract management skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities and strong attention to detail
  • Strong communication and relationship-building abilities, allowing you to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders
  • Exceptional customer service – you’re dedicated to a positive rider experience
  • A passion for community development and making a difference through public transit
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, aiding you in data-driven decision-making
  • Familiarity with grant proposals and reporting processes
  • Experience with municipal procurement processes
  • Thorough knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office applications, Transit Fare applications, database management, and office Knowledge of WorkTech asset management software is an asset.

Qualifications

  • Diploma in civil technology, business administration, public policy, or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience in project management, transportation, or a related field
  • Valid Class “G” driver’s license and current Driver’s Abstract with results satisfactory to the Employer. Ability and willingness to travel within the community as required.
  • Possess a current Criminal Record & Judicial Matters Check (Level 2) with results satisfactory to the employer, and a valid standard first aid & CPR/AED Level C certification (or willing to obtain).

Other Important Information

Normal hours of work are forty (40) hours per week. The annual salary range is $80,371.20 to $97,656.00 ($38.84 to $46.95 per hour).
