The Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority (NPCA) is a community-based natural resource management agency that works to protect, enhance, and sustain healthy watersheds. With 60 years of experience, the NPCA offers watershed programs and services that focus on flood and hazard management, source water protection, species protection, ecosystem restoration, community stewardship, and land management.

 

The NPCA is one of 36 Conservation Authorities in the Province of Ontario. With 41 Conservation Areas within the Niagara Peninsula watershed, the NPCA manages lands that are held in public trust for recreation, heritage preservation, conservation, and education. These natural and shared greenspaces marry nature, culture and adventure to create limitless opportunities for discovery.

 

The Opportunity

As the Administrative Assistant for the Planning and Development team, you support a wide variety of administrative tasks within Planning, Regulations, Source Water Protection and executive support to the Director. With a focus on Customer Service, this role is often the first contact our customers may have with the organization.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Providing general information regarding the NPCA’s planning and regulations policies to customers in line with the Customer Service Standards
  • Ensuring customer inquiries and follow up are filtered to the appropriate staff person for timely response
  • Assist in organizing meetings, including agenda preparation, resource material and taking minutes as required
  • Preparing and proofreading departmental presentations, letters and reports upon request
  • Assist in preparing and issuing communications as requested (including formal notices under the Conservation Authorities Act)
  • Assisting in collecting fees from applicants, issuing receipts as required
  • Providing front line customer service and reception support, responding to general inquires from the public and other stakeholders through phone, email or in person

What you Bring

  • Post-secondary education in Office Administration
  • Three (3) years’ experience providing administrative support
  • Basic knowledge of planning and permitting processes within the public sector; CityView knowledge an asset
  • Skilled in computer applications including Microsoft and virtual meeting platforms
  • Excellent organization and time management skills with the ability to prioritize
  • Strong customer service skills

  • An hourly salary ranging starting at $32.46 growing to as high as $36.07 (35 hours/week – 2024 rate). Compensation review is pending implementation. Salary subject to change.
