The Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority (NPCA) is a community-based natural resource management agency that works to protect, enhance, and sustain healthy watersheds. With 60 years of experience, the NPCA offers watershed programs and services that focus on flood and hazard management, source water protection, species protection, ecosystem restoration, community stewardship, and land management.

The NPCA is one of 36 Conservation Authorities in the Province of Ontario. With 41 Conservation Areas within the Niagara Peninsula watershed, the NPCA manages lands that are held in public trust for recreation, heritage preservation, conservation, and education. These natural and shared greenspaces marry nature, culture and adventure to create limitless opportunities for discovery.

The Opportunity

Supporting the financial sustainability of the NPCA, the Administrative Assistant is a key member of the team. This role will provide front-line support to our internal team as well as our stakeholders. Contributing to the transparency and accountability of our actions, the Administrative Assistant ensures information, tools and resources are available to manage financial administration, deliver services on time and with high quality, and collaborate with internal and external partners. The successful applicant has the desire to provide exemplary customer service and support to our internal partners and is a valued contributor to the success of our unique Conservation Areas.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Assisting by providing financial support including compiling and reconciling daily credit receipts, ensuring accurate general ledger account coding
  • Providing support for accounts receivable and accounts payable functions
  • Maintaining payment records, contracts and customer information for facilities rentals, seasonal campers, program and event participants, and membership pass holders
  • Assisting with the administration and delivery of NPCA programs, events and services as required
  • Responding to various inquiries from members of the public, board members and staff members through phone, email and in person
  • Providing exceptional customer service as a front-line ambassador of the NPCA

What You Bring

  • Post-secondary education in Office Administration, Finance/Accounting, or a related field
  • Three (3) years’ experience providing administrative and financial support
  • Proficiency with computers including Microsoft Office (knowledge of Sage, FMW and City Wide Asset Management are assets)
  • Excellent organization and administrative skills
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Ability to work within tight deadlines
  • Excellent customer service skills
