McLean was hired by a unanimous vote of council at the March 9, 2020 Regular Meeting following a competitive search. McLean replaces the town’s former Superintendent Todd Hicks, who left the post in September 2019 to pursue another opportunity after spending over two years in the role.

Rob McLean was born and raised in Middleton, Nova Scotia where he graduated from Middleton Regional High School. He was enrolled in the Survey Engineering program at the University of New Brunswick and undertook Pre-Technology studies at Kingstec Community College in Kentville, Nova Scotia.

When not enjoying his time on construction projects and soon to be public works projects, Rob can be found doing various outdoor activities such as camping, dirt biking, and boating. McLean resides with his partner Shawna and is a proud father to two daughters Caleigh and Marleigh.
