Brighton is pleased to announce that James Smith has been hired as Brighton’s Fire Chief starting on October 19.
Mr. Smith brings more than 25 years of progressive experience in fire and emergency management, having worked as a Fire Fighter, Fire Services Instructor, Fire Chief, and most recently as District Fire Chief for the Rocky View Fire Department in Balzac, Alberta, where he was responsible for seven fire stations and a blended professional/volunteer force of more than 200. His extensive experience in incident response, command, and investigations; training and managing in a unionized environment; short- and long-term planning and budgeting; and report writing is complemented with full certification from the National Fire Protection Association.
The Fire Chief is responsible for the sound management, leadership and strategic direction of the Brighton Fire Department and is an important member of the Senior Management Team.
