Bruce Lauckner has been appointed the new chief administrative officer for the Region of Waterloo.

“Bruce is an accomplished leader who brings to the position both strong leadership skills and a passion for community building,” said Regional Chair Karen Redman. “His skills, talent, and experience will be a good fit with the region’s organizational culture as we navigate this period of unprecedented change. Effective July 27, Bruce will be joining a solid regional team which will benefit from his years of experience dealing with complex challenges and change.”

Mr. Lauckner joins the region from Ontario Health. Since November 2019, he has been the Transitional Regional Lead, West Region and Chief Executive Officer for Hamilton Niagara Haldimand Brant, Waterloo Wellington, South West and Erie Local Health Integration Networks. (LHIN). Prior to this role he served as the Chief Executive Officer for the Waterloo Wellington LHIN for the past decade.

“I am excited to be joining such a progressive organization,” said Mr. Lauckner. “The region has been a leader in so many areas. It will be an honour to do my part to help the region deal with the challenges and opportunities ahead of us. This role will allow me to combine my passion for Waterloo region with the opportunity to work with a team of dedicated staff committed to delivering outstanding programs and services to the community.”

Mr. Lauckner has a Master of Arts degree in Public Administration and Policy from the University of Guelph. He has taken on a series of progressive roles ranging from Clerk and Treasurer for two rural municipalities to CEO for a $7 billion health system representing almost four million residents, 3,000 direct staff and 530 health service providers.

Bruce and his wife Lisa and teenagers Ben and Emma live in Waterloo. Bruce was a rep soccer coach for many years with Waterloo United and now enjoys spending time kayak fishing on various waterways in Waterloo Region. Bruce is an active supporter of a number of community organizations.
