Lobbyist registration and regulation by municipalities

Three Ontario municipalities have passed by-laws to establish a public lobbyist registry and appoint a lobbyist registrar, under specific powers exercised by their councils – mandated for the City of Toronto1 under ss. 156 and 165 to 169 of the City of Toronto Act, 2006 and authorized for the other municipalities (Hamilton and Ottawa2) under ss. 8 to 11, and 223.9 to 223.12 of the Municipal Act, 2001, which provide those and other powers to
