In June 2025, the Ontario Minister of Energy and Mines introduced the province’s first integrated energy plan, outlining a path to make sure the province has enough energy when and where it is needed to support housing and economic growth. As a key part of the plan, the province has committed to:
- procuring new electricity generation and storage resources
- ensuring that these projects only move forward with a supportive council resolution from host municipalities
