YouthFest Mock Council, 2019: In the spring of each year, high school students from the Moncton area come to City Hall for presentations, breakout sessions, elect a mayor and, with committee members acting as councillors, have a mock debate.
Democracy is in a fragile state these days. Honking horns, truck-ins, demands for democratically elected officials to be turfed … what are we to do?
Well, education is the key to protecting democracy. It is vital to ensure that our children and their children enjoy the same “peace, order, and good government” that we’ve enjoyed in Canada.
