Development Charges Act
The Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing has advised that the Development Charges Act, 1997 (DCA) and O.Reg. 82/98 came into force on March 1, 1998.
The legislation is the result of consultations between the government and various stakeholders. It reduces the scope of services eligible for funding by development charges, “discounts” some services, and addresses technical and administrative matters, and reporting requirements. The result is a framework that promotes accountability for every development charge dollar.
