The Opportunity
The Township of Algonquin Highlands is seeking to fill a pending vacancy in the Treasurer position.
Reporting to the CAO, the Treasurer is a key member of the Senior Management Team responsible for financial leadership, long-term planning, and ensuring legislative compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Fulfill statutory duties under the Municipal Act, 2001
- Lead budgeting, financial planning, and reporting
- Oversee taxation, payroll, and financial operations
- Manage audit processes and financial controls
- Provide strategic advice to the CAO, Council and senior leadership team
Key Attributes
- Excellent communication, organizational, and project management skills
- Proficiency in financial software, spreadsheets, and online reporting programs
Qualifications
- Degree in accounting, finance, or related field
- CPA designation preferred
- Significant experience in municipal finance and treasury services
- Strong knowledge of municipal legislation and finance
- Excellent leadership, problem-solving and communication skills
Compensation & Benefits
