Our Finance team is looking for a detail-oriented Accounting Coordinator to support day-to-day financial operations. Reporting to the Manager, Accounting & Financial Reporting / Deputy Treasurer, you will prepare bank reconciliations, reconcile general ledger accounts, and assist with journal entries, reporting, and audits in accordance with municipal policies and accounting standards. This role is ideal for someone who is organized, analytical, and eager to contribute to a collaborative Finance team while building strong accounting and financial reporting skills.

Position Purpose:
Reporting to the Manager, Accounting & Financial Reporting / Deputy Treasurer, this position is responsible for preparing complex bank reconciliations and liaising with the bank and internal and external stakeholders on various transactions. Work typically includes analysis and reconciliation of general ledger accounts and preparation of journal entries in compliance with municipal policy and in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. This position will also assist with interim reporting and audits to provide documentation and schedules.The Accounting Coordinator will work under moderate to minimal supervision with general guidelines to provide support to the Finance team in processing transactions, maintaining financial records, preparing reconciliations and assist with financial reporting.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Post secondary education in business administration, accounting, bookkeeping or related discipline preferred or
- One (1) to three (3) years related experience in accounting/ finance.
- Municipal experience considered an asset.
- Financial accounting background and understanding of accounting practices and concepts in a municipal environment.
- Working knowledge of municipal financial legislation/regulations and generally accepted accounting principles
- Previous experience with accounting software: MS Dynamics / GP and FMW considered an asset
- Computer literacy utilizing the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel)
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Organizational skills to manage changing and competing priorities.
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
- Self-motivated, goal-oriented individual capable of working in a dynamic and challenging environment
