"Swiftnomics" underlines need for municipal fiscal reform

When Taylor Swift brought her Eras Tour to Toronto last fall for six sold-out shows, tickets were initially going for upwards of $2,000 each. Some front-row tickets fetched upwards of $5,000.
The total economic impact of the tour was estimated by Destination Toronto, the city’s tourism agency, to be $282 million, thanks to the multiplier effect. The figure includes $152 million in direct spending by Swift fans on things like hotels, restaurants, and parking.
