What is the Opportunity?
The Director, Engineering & Environment (DE&E) is a forward thinking and collaborative leader who plays a pivotal role in shaping the City of Leduc’s future. This position leads the planning, development, and renewal of the City’s essential infrastructure – from roads and sewers to parks, stormwater systems, buildings, and solid waste management. Reporting to the General Manager of Infrastructure & Planning, the DE&E manages a $1.6M engineering and $4M waste management operational budget, along with a $20M capital budget, while providing leadership to a talented team of 12 full-time staff.
As a trusted advisor to Council, the CAO, and senior leaders, the Director ensures that infrastructure decisions are strategic, fiscally responsible, and aligned with community needs. Acting as the City’s voice in key regional forums, this leader also drives cross-departmental efforts in transportation planning, construction, environmental stewardship, and asset management – ensuring the infrastructure that supports Leduc’s rapid growth is resilient, sustainable, and built for generations to come.

Who you are?
The successful candidate will have the following:
Education:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering.
Experience:
- A minimum of ten years progressively responsible experience in municipal engineering, including at least 3 years in a leadership role managing people.
Competencies and Attributes:
- Strong project management and financial acumen with a track record of development and oversight of large budgets and diverse resources.
- Exceptional communication, advocacy, and relationship-building skills.
- A collaborative and people-centered leadership style, with a reputation for mentoring high-performing teams, fostering positive culture, and guiding professional growth.
- Experience with leading and developing environmental initiatives is an advantage.
