Our city, situated just a short drive from Toronto on the stunning shores of Georgian Bay, is seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to lead our Public Works and Engineering team.
Position Overview:
- Reporting to: Director of Public Works and Engineering
- Direct Reports: Public Works Superintendent and Supervisor of Environmental Services
- Indirect Management: Public Works Division, Engineering Services, and Environmental Services unionized and non-union staff
- Divisions Overseen: Public Works, Engineering Services, Environmental Services
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Management:
- Direct and manage the Public Works Division, Engineering Services Division, and Environmental Services Division.
- Oversee development, monitoring, and management of the annual budget.
- Ensure compliance with relevant Acts and Regulations, including the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
- Foster collaboration and strong inter-departmental and inter-divisional relationships
- Strategic Planning & Operations:
- Develop innovative strategies for municipal infrastructure management.
- Lead asset management planning and lifecycle management for government organizations.
- Translate the corporate strategic vision and values to integrate them at the work unit level
- Implement operational policies and financial planning.
- Stakeholder Engagement:
- Collaborate efficiently with city officials, developers, contractors, and public agencies.
- Provide clear communication and develop positive relationships within the community.
Qualifications:
- Education: University Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering.
- Professional Designations:
- Current membership with Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO) or certification as a Certified Engineering Technologist (CET).
- Experience:
- Minimum 5 years in a management role within a municipal and unionized environment.
- Preferred: Licensed Professional Engineer with extensive experience in municipal infrastructure design and construction.
Core Competencies:
- Exceptional organizational, project management, and leadership skills.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and conflict resolution abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, GIS, and other relevant technologies.
- Strong familiarity with relevant Federal & Provincial legislation affecting public works operations.
- Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills with a strong focus on fostering teamwork and collaboration, effectively engaging both internal and external stakeholders across the department and organization.
Salary Range: $60.30 – $73.53 hourly
