The Peace River Regional District includes four electoral areas and seven member municipalities, with a total population of approximately 60,000, covering a vast 120,000 square kilometer area.
Position OverviewReporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, the General Manager of Protective Services is responsible for the day-to-day delivery of Protective Services and Emergency Management for the Peace River Regional District (PRRD). As the General Manager you will manage the PRRD Emergency Program, Fire Protection, 9-1-1 Services, and the staffing of the Protective Services department. This position will be located out of the Dawson Creek Office.
Qualifications The ideal candidate will have: · Post-secondary degree in Emergency Management, Fire Services, Public Administration or a related discipline plus a minimum of five (5) years’ related experience at a supervisory level preferably in a unionized local government setting · Strong understanding and experience of the Emergency and Disaster Management Act. · Strong understanding and experience with Fire Services Act, Fire Safety Act, the BC Fire Code, the BC Minimum Fire Training Standards, and the Occupational Health and Safety Regulation. · Proficient in report writing. · Proficient in the management of departmental budgets. · An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered. · A valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
Additional Information The hours of work are Monday to Friday, from 8:30 am – 4:30 pm, with one hour for lunch. Regular travel within PRRD, and attendance at evening and/ weekend meetings and events is required.

This exempt position offers a competitive salary range of $128,478 – $151,150, benefits package and an excellent team.
