One of Canada’s longest municipal strike ends with a new agreement

The City of Mount Pearl, Nlfd., reached a deal with striking workers earlier this year, bringing to a close one of the longest strikes in Canada’s history. Two hundred municipal employees with CUPE Local 2099 went on strike on July 7 after the vast majority voted in favour of taking action. The strikes lasted until the end of September as the workers and municipality struggled to find acceptable terms.
