Charles Pinker has been declared elected by acclamation on May 9, 2022, as the Regional District of Nanaimo Director for Electoral Area C, which covers the Extension, Nanaimo Lakes, East Wellington, Pleasant Valley region. The nomination period closed on April 29, 2022, at 4 p.m. and provincial legislation provides that no declaration can be made as to the status of the results of the election prior to May 9 to allow for a challenge of the nomination or the withdrawal of a candidate.

Charles Pinker was the Alternate Director for Electoral Area C and will continue as the Alternate Director for Area C until he takes his oath of office on or after June 5, 2022. Mr. Pinker will then have the office of Electoral Area C Director until the general local government election on October 15, 2022.  Mr. Pinker has filled the role of Alternate Director since the passing of long-time Director Maureen Young in November.
