Organization Name: Regional District of Nanaimo

Location: Nanaimo

The Regional District of Nanaimo (RDN) Board elected a chair and vice-chair at its inaugural meeting on November 10. Provincial legislation requires regional districts annually elect a chair and a vice-chair at the first meeting of the board after November 1. Chair Tyler Brown was elected as the head and chief executive officer of the RDN and will chair all board meetings. Elected as vice-chair, Vanessa Craig is responsible for fulfilling the role of the chair when necessary.

The board, comprised of 19 elected officials representing four municipalities and seven electoral areas, elected their chair and vice-chair by ballot, and the positions will be held for a one-year term.

“It is a privilege and an honour to be elected by my colleagues to serve the RDN Board in governing the affairs of the district,” Brown said. “Decisions regarding public policies, bylaws and key services throughout the region will continue to be sensitive to the priorities and needs of our residents.”

“I am grateful to my fellow Directors for electing me to another term,” Craig said. “I look forward to continuing to serve all residents in the RDN and to supporting Chair Brown in my capacity as vice-chair.”
