On September 28, the 25th Edition of the Communities in Bloom National & International Awards Ceremonies was held in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, honouring municipalities across Canada, the United States, Belgium, Hungary, Ireland, Croatia, Italy, Slovenia, and United Kingdom.

Communities in Bloom is a Canadian non-profit organization committed to fostering civic pride, environmental responsibility, and beautification through community involvement and the challenge of a national program, with focus on the enhancement of green spaces in communities.

National Chair Bob Lewis said: “On behalf of the national committee, judges, and sponsors, we sincerely thank and congratulate the many hundreds of communities and the tens of thousands of those involved in the program over the past 25 years: their efforts have helped to green our communities and make them better places to live in, to work in … and to visit.”

Communities are evaluated using a “bloom” rating determined by the total score of the evaluation:

  • 0 to 55 %=1 Bloom
  • 56 to 63 %=2 Blooms
  • 64 to 72 %=3 Blooms
  • 73 to 81 %=4 Blooms
  • 82 % and over=5 Blooms

There are four (4) levels of 5 Blooms exclusive to the National and International Edition:
