Local boards: how to identify them under Ontario's new Municipal Act
Ontario’s Municipal Act, 2001 came into force January 1, 2003. Part VII of the Act deals with the municipality’s financial administration, including financial reporting requirements. Part VII of the Act obligates not only the municipalities, but also all local boards, to establish objectives and standards related to their respective operations. Part XII of the Act also requires council to approve the fees and charges for each local board.
