Mississauga implements citywide LED street lighting

The City of Mississauga is taking a bold step in investing $33.6 million (net) to implement citywide light emitting diode (LED) street lighting that will result in major reductions in future energy and maintenance costs.
The move by the city’s Transportation and Works Department to convert all 49,000 high pressure sodium (HPS) street lights to LED street lights was backed by council in December 2011 – giving them the green light to begin the implementation
