Recreation, Parks and Facilities Manager
The Township of Otonabee-South Monaghan, with a population of 6,500 people, is located in the heart of Peterborough County. We are currently seeking applications for the position of Recreation, Parks and Facilities Manager due to a recent retirement.
PURPOSE OF POSITION
Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) and a member of the Senior Management Team, the Manager will be responsible for the overall operations of the recreation department including supervision of all recreation staff, preparation and maintenance of the recreation department capital and operating budgets and the management of municipal parks, sports fields and designated Township facilities including the arena, community halls, libraries and Keene Medical Centre..
The Manager represents the Township on related community organizations such as the Parks and Recreation Committee and interacts with several local sporting organizations and community groups. The position also requires the ability to co-ordinate building or system repairs on all designated municipal facilities and to ensure proper ongoing maintenance of all facilities.
A college diploma in a relevant field such as physical health, recreation and leisure studies is preferred. Five to ten year experience as a senior manager in a municipal recreation department with a sound understanding of both capital and operating budgeting, parks planning, recreation programming, community development, public service and municipal government issues.
A solid understanding of business management principles, supervisory experience and the ability to work effectively in a team setting and possesses effective communication skills is required.
The position is at Grade 4 of the Township salary grid with a range for this position of $70,449 – $83,867 ($33.87 – $40.32 hourly) based on a 40 hour work week (2019 rates).
