Over 500 Canadian municipalities have declared climate emergencies and are now exploring ways to advance climate action. Green Development Standards (GDS) can support and accelerate the market toward low-carbon buildings and communities.

GDS are voluntary or mandatory measures created by municipalities to encourage the planning and design of environmentally, socially, and economically sustainable communities. A GDS framework encompasses integrated green spaces and a variety of options for housing, transportation, and employment.
