Peel Region serves more than 1.5 million residents and approximately 200,000 businesses in Brampton, Caledon, and Mississauga and delivers a wide range of resident focused services across the Region. As a key member of the Corporate Services Leadership Team, the Director Business Finance Planning & Deputy Treasurer (Director)provides strategic financial leadership to Regional Council, the Executive Leadership Team, Regional Service Directors, and senior leaders at partner agencies, including Peel Regional Police and three conservation authorities.
Reporting to the Commissioner of Corporate Services and CFO, the Director leads a team of experienced financial managers in advancing financial stewardship and strategic planning across the organization. This role oversees the development of the Region’s annual business plan, the management and reporting of its $4.0 billion annual operating budget and $23.5 billion ten-year capital plan, and long-term financial planning, including oversight of capital and working fund reserves. This position also provides the strategic oversight and guidance to the Enterprise Asset Management team, ensuring the state of good repair of Peel’s $51 billion in infrastructure assets.
The ideal candidate will hold a university degree in Business, Economics, or a related field, ideally coupled with a CPA, and will demonstrate a strong commitment to continuous learning. With at environments and progressive leadership experience, the successful candidate will bring a proven track record of guiding diverse teams, delivering results in complex environments, and fostering a culture of accountability and innovation. This role requires a collaborative leader who can mentor talent, manage cross-functional priorities, and evolve Finance’s role from traditional stewardship to a strategic partner—ensuring the Region continues to meet community needs with efficiency, sustainability, and fiscal responsibility.
