Senior Administrative Officer

Under the direction of the Mayor and Council, the Senior Administrative Officer is responsible for the overall management and administration of the Hamlet employees and contracts, and will assume all financial and administrative responsibilities as specified in the Hamlet’s Act.

Essential duties and responsibilities for this position include:

  • Ensuring the consistent and effective delivery of Municipal services
  • Ensuring that the Hamlet establishes and maintains a sound financial position
  • Ensuring that Hamlet Council policies are upheld, By-laws enforced, and that the Hamlet Act is adhered to
  • Preparing and administering any Government programs and other related contracts
  • Administrative management of those contracts accepted by the Hamlet Council
  • Responding to general public inquiries regarding Council decisions and local problems
  • Supporting the effective functioning of the Hamlet Council
  • Communicating with Council and with the community
  • Approving and monitoring licenses issued by the Hamlet
  • Assisting the Chief Returning Officer with preparation of Hamlet elections
  • Other duties as assigned by the Mayor and/or Council

The Senior Administrative Officer is expected to attend meetings outside of regular working hours and attend Hamlet Council Meetings.

It is recommended the ideal candidate have one of the following Degrees: Municipal Administration and Financial Management; Accounting and/or Human Resource Management along with 3-4 years experience in a municipal setting. Equivalencies will be considered.

Salary Range is based on education and experience. A comprehensive benefits package is available including, relocation allowance, Settlement Allowance, VTA, Health/Dental, Pension Plan and Subsidized Housing.
