Manager Planning Development Services-Parkland County AB
With a population of 29,679, Parkland County offers a range of municipal services and a vibrant mix of agricultural, residential, industrial and recreational opportunities. This unique rural area is situated on the west outskirts of Edmonton, stretching over 2438 sq. km. of picturesque landscapes. We are currently inviting applications for a:
MANAGER, PLANNING & DEVELOPMENT SERVICES
(Permanent, Full-Time)
You will provide visionary leadership to the County’s Planning & Development Services Department including the supervision of 16 FTE. You will review and make recommendations related to land use matters (subdivision, development, bylaw enforcement), provide professional planning advice and consultation to stakeholders, and manage the department’s current and long-range planning activities and systems. You will represent the County at meetings of various boards, tribunals, committees and other hearings, and will communicate effectively with the development community on a wide range of planning matters. Exceptional communication, interpersonal and presentation skills; the ability to deal effectively with elected officials and the public; and sensitivity to business/political environments with a demonstrated initiative and the ability to work independently and motivate and lead staff are required. You are a strategic leader who possesses:
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Post-Secondary degree in Planning or a related discipline.
- Minimum seven years’ related experience in a municipal planning function, including supervisory/management experience.
- Membership with the Canadian Institute of Planners or registration as an Alberta Community Planner would be an asset.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License. A current Driver’s Abstract must be provided.
Competition Number: 08-40MW
Remuneration: $81,165 to $99,541 per annum
Competition Closing Date: Wednesday, July 9, 2008, at 4:30 p.m. however, this competition will remain open until a suitable candidate is found.
