Voting Day

Voting day for the 2006 regular municipal elections is Monday, November 13, 2006. A complete listing of pertinent dates will be included in the Calendar Chapter of the Municipal World Inc. publication, Municipal Election Law, 2006. Election Supplies

Municipal World will soon begin to review (and revise where necessary) the forms and publications for use during the 2006 Ontario municipal elections. Forms will be available to aid in the municipal election process including the development of French-Language forms.

Municipal Elections Act, 2001

On May 18, 2006 Bill 81, the Budget Measures Act, 2006, received Royal Assent. It includes an amendment to the Municipal Elections Act, 1996 to establish a four-year term of office for council members and school trustees. Four year terms will begin with the new councils, December 1, 2006. After this year's municipal election, the next regular municipal election will be November 8, 2010.
