Tim Jones Tim Jones is President and CEO of Artscape, committed to building a world that engages art, culture and creativity as catalysts for community transformation, sustainability, prosperity and livability. Under Tim’s direction since 1998, Artscape has grown from a Toronto-based affordable space provider into an international leader in culture-led regeneration and city-building through the arts.

Some of the major achievements at Artscape have included: brokering a win-win-win deal between a developer, community activists, artists and the City of Toronto to overcome a bitter development dispute in the Queen West Triangle; pioneering a new self-financing model of affordable artist live/work space; helping envision and raise the funds for $20 million Artscape Wychwood Barns – a multi-dimensional arts and environmental project at the site of the former TTC Wychwood Barns; played a catalytic role in the development of the revitalization of the Distillery Historic District, West Queen West, and Liberty Village; saving the former Toronto Public and Natural Science School building and re-used it in the creation of Gibraltar Point Centre for the Artscape; leading creative city dialogue in Canada by hosting two iterations of a major international conference called Creative Places + Spaces Conferences; initiating a Culture-Led Regeneration Workshop series that teaches other Canadian communities how to do what Artscape does; and co-authoring a major research study on the spillover effects of investment in cultural facilities.

In 2008, Artscape will work on 25 projects, programs and strategies in Canada and abroad that aim to unlock the creative potential of people and places.
